You should always let your provider know that you have an Inspire® implant before proceeding with an imaging or medical procedure, so that they can follow any necessary procedures.
The Inspire implant is typically implanted in your right chest, so implants like pacemakers or cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), do not typically interfere.
Please consult with a medical provider for more information.
CT scans are allowed across the entire body with the Inspire implant.
X-Ray scans are allowed across the entire body with the Inspire implant.
Diagnostic ultrasound - Inspire patients may undergo diagnostic ultrasound. There are no known effects from exposure to diagnostic levels of ultrasound. Theoretically, ultrasonic scanning equipment could cause mechanical damage to the generator or leads if undue pressure is used. Use care if ultrasound is performed over the implanted components.
There are no significant additional risks when using Inspire therapy alongside passive implanted devices and implanted devices that do not use bioelectrical sensing. These devices include artificial joints, breast implants, spinal cord stimulators, deep brain stimulators, cardiac stents and insertable loop recorders.
If you have specific concerns, please reach out to an Inspire-trained provider.
