Can I get an MRI with Inspire® therapy?

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of medical imaging that uses magnetic fields to create an internal view of the body.



If you have an Inspire® implant Model 3028 or 3150, you are eligible for MRI scans provided specific conditions are followed.



If you have an Inspire® implant Model 3024, you are not eligible for MRI scans.



To find out what type of Inspire implant model you have, please contact your provider or look at your patient ID card. There is a yellow MR triangle on the back of the patient ID card if you have the Inspire implant Model 3028 or 3150. If so, you are eligible for MRI provided specific scan conditions are followed.



If the back of your patient ID card does not have a yellow MR triangle, you have the Inspire implant Model 3024 and are not eligible for MRI scans.

What to bring to your MRI scan

Please bring the following to your MRI scan and show it to the provider:

  • Inspire implant ID card

  • Inspire™ remote

MRI Tech:

If you are employed as an MRI Tech looking to receive the Inspire implant, that is acceptable if you are not in the immediate vicinity of the MRI bore when a scan is occurring. If you do not work in MRI Zone 4 then there is no concern at all.

If you work in Zone 4 then you should leave Zone 4 during the scan or stay well away out of arm’s length of the machine while the scan is active. To avoid feeling the static MRI field tugging at your generator, you should avoid coming closer than an arm’s length to the machine.
