Getting a heart procedure

Can I get a heart procedure with Inspire® therapy?

The Inspire® implant is typically implanted in your right chest, so implants like pacemakers or cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), do not typically interfere.

AED Pads

We recommend placing the pads as far away as possible from the implant and lead(s). However, in an emergency situation, life-saving measures should always be taken. If someone had a heart attack and they were to be shocked with an AED, there is a risk of damaging the Inspire implant.

If an AED machine is used on a patient with the Inspire implant, the patient should not use Inspire therapy until getting the implant checked at your provider’s office. Your provider will test the implant to see if it's still working properly.

Please consult with your Inspire-trained provider for more information.
