My wife’s life was the most important result. Her ability to stop worrying was all I could ask for.
Prior to 2019, I had to suffer with sleep apnea for over 40 years. It began while I was in the navy around 1995. After returning to civilian life, I was seen by a sleep doctor in El Paso and diagnosed with the illness.
While I was prescribed a CPAP machine, I was never able to keep it on at night for more than two hours. The doctor tried over the years to give me a smaller and smaller mask; I would not tolerate them. The reason for the intolerance was due to my severe PTSD and anxiety attacks.
In early 2019, I read an article in the newspaper about a new product "Inspire". The same week I made an appointment to see a doctor. After the appointment, I was sent to an ENT doctor and proceeded to get approved by the VA for the Inspire implant.
There was an outpatient procedure done to ensure I would medically be able to have the Inspire implant done. The doctor informed me I was a good candidate.
In August of 2019 I was implanted with my Inspire device and activated on September 20th, 4 days before my 72nd birthday. The best gift to date. Three or four days after activation I noticed my energy was up, I slept well. But most importantly, my wife was able to get a good night’s rest. Prior to that she was worried when I would stop breathing at night. I went from 46.4 times an hour to 1.6 afterwards.
Since then, I volunteered to be the El Paso area Ambassador and have had many conversations in English and Spanish with individuals that want to hear from an actual patient.
I want to thank Inspire for making such a difference in my life and thousands of others.
Woodworking, gardening, and playing with my great grandchildren in the miniature golf course that I built.
I had no success with the traditional CPAP machine and Inspire was the right therapy for me.
Passing on the word of Inspire is what is asked of us by our Lord.
