Dianne Lezama Nestfield stayed with friends during a trip to Trinidad in 2024.
This is a huge milestone for her since she first received a diagnosis for severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in 2005.
Lezama Nestfield snored so loudly that it made her embarrassed to travel and stay with other people. She can now enjoy her life again with Inspire® therapy.
“I am having a better life, traveling all over,” Lezama Nestfield said. “I have more energy, and I can get up in the morning. Now, I can get up feeling great.”
It took two decades of struggles before Lezama Nestfield found relief, however.
She constantly woke up with headaches before her initial OSA diagnosis. She also felt tired and groggy all the time.
She often only slept a couple of hours each night. A sleep study later showed she had 53 sleep apnea episodes every hour.
“I would feel like I worked all night,” Lezama Nestfield said. “My body would feel beat.”
Family and friends took notice, as well. This is why she lost the confidence to travel as much.
This is even when she used a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to treat her condition.
Sleep became more uncomfortable with the machine. It also didn’t reduce or stop her snoring or apnea episodes enough.
Lezama Nestfield tried a dental appliance too but remained tired.
She eventually saw an ad on Facebook for Inspire therapy after years of dealing with the condition.
She found an Inspire-trained provider and later qualified for Inspire therapy.
Nestfield Lezama had surgery in 2023 and noticed a difference soon after her appointment to turn on Inspire therapy.
“I wake up feeling rested and feeling good,” Nestfield said. “I used to get migraines, and since I got Inspire, I don’t get them like I used to.”
Her sleep apnea events are now down to six per hour. She also wakes up with more energy.
She also spends more time with family and friends and isn’t afraid to sleep in other houses.
This makes her retirement enjoyable while she travels the world.
