Edna Fuhrman used to often need to nap to get through her day. She now has more energy and feels less tired since successfully treating her obstructive sleep apnea with Inspire® therapy.

It became challenging to work seven days a week. Furhman later retired and moved.

The lack of sleep from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) lasted two decades before she began Inspire® therapy.

Today, she not only has reduced apnea episodes but also feels less tired. Her energy and focus returned too.

“It was foggy, and now it’s clear even on a rainy day,” Furhman said.

The journey to better sleep had obstacles before Inspire therapy.

Furhman’s loud snoring kept her husband up at night. She also woke up feeling more exhausted than the night before.

She even took a later shift at a theater to try to sleep longer in the morning. It didn’t help.

In fact, she often took a nap in her car behind the theater to get some additional rest.

Eating junk food and drinking coffee became a crutch for Furhman. She tried everything to keep going during the long hours.

She hoped something would help and went down the list of options.

Furhman first had Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) surgery. It only helped temporarily.

She later tried a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine when her poor sleep returned. That didn’t work either.

Fuhrman found out she removed the mask while sleeping.

Problems remained when she and her husband moved to Arizona. This led her to a local ENT office and the first mention of Inspire therapy.

Furhman researched more and later qualified. She received Inspire therapy in September 2020.

She isolated herself for 30 days before and after surgery due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But she said the extra challenges were well worth it.

Furhman noticed she started to get a better night’s sleep soon after her appointment to turn on Inspire therapy.

The extra energy during the day now allows her to enjoy her retirement.

She even participates in a women’s club and loves to exercise in the pool near her home.

“It has brought me a new life in my older years,” Furhman said.
