“Life saving; this procedure not only gave me my life back, but my husband's life as well. He would barely sleep worrying if I was breathing or not. He can sleep better now knowing my severe sleep apnea is almost gone.”
I am a retired Firefighter Paramedic. I got the Inspire implant on March 1, 2021, after having a cardiac arrest at home on Nov 21, 2020.
Interests:
I enjoy working outside in the yard, walking, sewing and being with my family.
Why I chose Inspire therapy to treat my sleep apnea:
I had severe sleep apnea which was affecting my heart in a negative way. After going through insurance for CPAP, it was not a good fit for me. I could not wear any device due to my PTSD after experiencing an attempted kidnapping as a child on a school playground. I cannot do something on my face or near my face. My doctor I saw told me about Inspire and I looked into it to find out if I would be a candidate. I was. The rest is history.
Why am I a patient ambassador?
I want to help others who cannot do CPAP or struggle with making a decision that is so important. Not everything you read is set in stone. We all have our own health issues and concerns. There is nothing more important than your life and I got a second chance. God has a purpose for me and I think talking to others about how Inspire saved my life after death is one. Don't put off doing something about OSA.
