Scott Raymond owns a thriving and fast-paced software business. His obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) made it difficult to keep up.
Raymond’s wife Becky used to sleep in a separate room to avoid his loud snoring.
The challenge to balance work and home life due to his symptoms lasted years. Then he found Inspire® therapy.
“I began to sleep and feel better,” Raymond said. “I have energy for my business, and it’s easier to focus when I’m not so tired.”
Sleep didn’t come as easy before Raymond received Inspire therapy.
He remained tired throughout the day and struggled to keep up with the demand of his busy company, ORCA Engineering Inc.
The company analyzes performance and reliability data for race car teams and takes a lot of concentration and effort.
Raymond first used a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to treat his OSA.
He still stopped breathing more than 40 times per hour at night and often took the mask off in the middle of the night.
This limited any potential benefit.
Neither he nor Becky liked sleeping in separate rooms either. This took a toll on their relationship.
Becky eventually heard about Inspire therapy and encouraged Raymond to learn more.
Raymond consulted with an Inspire-trained provider. He later qualified and received the implant in 2020.
He and his wife noticed a difference soon afterward.
He can concentrate at work again and has the energy and patience needed to grow his business.
“It’s easier to make decisions,” he said. “If your mind is wandering, it is more difficult.”
But the best part for Raymond is that his snoring also went away.
This means he and Becky are once again able to enjoy nights together in the same room.
“That part is awesome,” Raymond said. “I am very happy about that.”
